Setcrete creates sound base for heated flooring

Setcrete Exterior floor levelling compound and Setcrete Rapid Set DPM have been used in a residential refurbishment project in Stafford to create a smooth, sound and dry subfloor base prior to the installation of a ‘floating’ underfloor heating system and engineered timber flooring.

The refurbishment of the 1960s’ property included the extension of a kitchen/dining area, enlarging the existing solid floor with new screed. Because the builder, Alan Blower, couldn’t verify if the original floor included a damp proof membrane, he decided to level the screed with moisture tolerant Setcrete Exterior, prior to applying Setcrete’s Rapid Set DPM epoxy resin damp proof membrane – both products supplied through his local merchants, Travis Perkins in Cannock.

Setcrete Rapid Set DPM provides an effective barrier to both residual construction moisture and rising damp in a single coat application, protecting both flooring adhesives and floor coverings from moisture damage.

Setcrete Exterior is an advanced, water-mix floor levelling compound used to smooth and level rough, worn or mechanically-damaged concrete or sand/cement screeds. It is particularly suited for preparing outside surfaces prior to the installation of artificial grass and resin pathways, and over patio areas before laying porcelain tiles. When set and cured, Setcrete Exterior is unaffected by rain or frost.

Due to its moisture tolerant properties, Setcrete Exterior is also ideal for internal application over damp, uneven concrete and sand/cement screeds prior to the application of Setcrete Rapid Set DPM.

As well as providing the perfect base for the installation of a floor covering, it can also be left uncovered and used as an exterior standalone wearing surface.
